AS CANADIANS, WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT QUALITY OF LIFE MATTERS.
OUR SAFETY MATTERS.
OUR FUTURE MATTERS.
FOSSIL FUEL BILLIONAIRES ARE HURTING CANADIANS FROM COAST TO COAST TO COAST.
The wealthiest companies in the world are making record profits dumping their crap into our atmosphere and triggering climate disasters that devastate our communities. While they get richer, everyday people are struggling to make ends meet.
Enough is enough.
It’s time for a corporate pollution cap and a rapid transition to an affordable, renewable-energy powered future.
THEY PROFIT.
YOU PAY.
Canada’s oil and gas industry wants nothing more than to continue to ravage our planet for profit. Their recklessness is fueling worsening floods and fires that cost communities billions and destroy people’s lives.
If we fail to act now, our families will continue to suffer.
A federal pollution cap would help us avert the worst of the climate crisis.
In damages alone, the climate crisis will cost us up to
$3.1 trillion a year
The global cost of climate change damage is estimated to be between $1.7 and $3.1 trillion per year by 2050 – that’s what’s ahead if we don’t regulate reckless corporate pollution.
But with a clean energy transition, there’s a lot to gain.
A net-zero 2050 can deliver 700,000 more energy jobs than exist today in Canada, as well as create new opportunities retrofitting homes, building mass transit, and improving community resilience.
A pollution cap is the first step. We also need to ensure that billionaires and corporations pay their fair share. This would generate $98 billion a year to spend on affordable homes, schools, public transit, and other essential services that we all need.
Energy efficiency retrofits, heat pumps, and electric vehicles simply make dollar sense. Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels leads to up to $900 monthly savings on household bills.
What Canadians are saying
“Across Canada, people are losing their homes to fires, to floods. We’re being displaced for anywhere from days to months. The oil gas industry needs to be held accountable. They need to have caps put on, and it needs to happen now, not in 20 years.”

“We went through a very traumatic experience with the November 2021 floods. We had to evacuate at around four o’clock in the morning. The water was basically above my kneecap.”Diana Boston — 2021 Merritt flood survivor (learn more)
“Now, I don’t have a $7 million budget… but what I have are some facts. The oil and gas sector is the country’s most polluting sector: accounting for a third of our national emissions. The sector’s emissions have kept going while other sectors have managed to cut their emissions and there’s no limit on how much the sector can pollute even though Canadians consistently poll saying they do want the sector to be held accountable”
Caroline Brouillette — Executive Director at Climate Action Network Canada

The federal government just announced draft regulations for the Oil and Gas Pollution Cap. This is Canada’s first big step towards holding the fossil fuel industry accountable. And it needs to be even stronger.
Big oil and their political allies are trying to get this critical measure scrapped. It’s time to fight back.
Right now, there’s a national consultation process. Let's raise a unified voice for a bolder, better pollution cap that’s introduced immediately. Sign on by Dec 20th to show your support.
